After this incident I would really suggest anyone to stay away from using Pirelli P6000 all season tires at all cost.
Here's my story, tonight I was driving my friend home in Don Mills, while I was making a slow right corner of the inner street my rear tires start to slide out, it was too late for me to stop before my 4 wheels were sliding. I hit the side curb and I was able to make a full stop when the rear bumper just scratched a pole at low speed. I was very suprised how I lost control so quick since I wasn't really going fast and I kept losing control. So I stopped and checked everything was fine (probably need to redo the alignment) but my rear bumper is badly scratched in the corner.
It was lucky that the street was empty so no one was hurt and all....
And I guess happy new year for me as I will have to pay for repaint and that means I'll have to let my HID go.
Dude, sorry to hear! Glad everyone is OK.
That seems odd that you would TOTALLY lose control going at the speed. What condition where your tires in? Or where you trying some Initial D drifiting SH*t
Phi: You won't believe how bad these tires are when they start slipping - once they lost traction you'll ever gain it back. I wasn't going very fast (around 50-60km/h) and making a slight right (ie. a curvy road). Once I turn my steering wheel the car starts slipping away and I wasn't even accelerating. When I made the full stop my car was in 180 degree going backwards.
I was lucky that nothing were there or else I would've just crashed it like a pig.
Elegant: 50-60Km from a main street into a side street, right hand turn That sounds kinda fast :???: I hope those number are an incorrect estimate. It should be more like 30-40Km.
Anyhow, if your rubber is that bad, do you intend to get new tires? What are you gonna do when we actually get snow - like today ?
Sorry to hear about that Dickson!
I'm in a similar situation, I think my Michelin All-seasons have seen better days, coming home tonight I turn onto my street and came to the corner of the crescent... well I turned but the damn car just kept going straight!! And I wasn't going that fast at all!! So I realized I was going into the curb no matter what so I just locked up the brakes and turned the wheels so the front of the tires would hit the curb and not the side! Almost went up ont someone's lawn!! haha
Good thing no one was parked on the road!
