Curious... Camry = Buick?

Ive got a 1994 Accord, and a 2000 Camry LE V6.... so im a regular on Honda and toyota boards....

OK... currently over at one of the Honda boards, there is a discussion on how the Camry is a Buick, meaning it drives, is as soft as, and corners like a Buick LeSabre.

Whats your opinion/thought on this matter?

thanks
Sean

Depends on the Generation I guess? Gen 4s are boats compared to Gen 3s. Gen 3s are pretty much the best, except for power and features. *waits for flaming*

Camry is in the same class as an Accord. Therefore, both Camry and Accord are squishy rides. If they equate Buick with squishy, then I'd have to agree.

It's a freakin' family sedan. Who you tryin' to fool?

I have a 94 Buick LeSabre... Dark Green... so I have first hand experience to compare them both. If they said a Camry felt like a Buick, they are smoking some crazy ooooWeeee. To compare it to my Camry would be like me comparing my 1MZFE to a D16... nonsense.

yea, i dont know what difference it makes anyway, but i pretty sure that a grand national will kill 90% of camrys.... i love my camry, but honestly it was designed for performance so shouldnt a stock camry feel like a buick?who cares

Never driven a buick but if they handle like Cadillacs then there is no comparison. I hate the ride of those luxo american cars. Doesn't even feel safe to me. Feels like you are floating all over the road. My gen 2 felt way better when it was stock. Supposedly accords do handle better than camry's though. I have heard this in many comparisons by magazines no matter if it was the older accord or the newer accord. But still, a camry is not nearly as bad as a buick.

Well, we have a 2003 V6 SE with the new engine, and we also have a 2001 buick century. The thing with the century is that it is weaker and the suspension is too soft.

One time, I was changing lanes at 60 mph and one guy was driving really slow in front of me on a 65 zone to merge. I braked hard, but before ABS could kick in, the front end dove like a boat, and the rear end tailed a bit, because of the braking weight distribution.

I don't know about those supercharged regals and Lesabres, but at least, Century is not like a camry. Maybe it feels the same when you are crusing at highway speeds?

Camry's and Buick's... What a retarded compairison!
...then again these are the people who think a Civic can take on just about anything

I couldn't stand the way my gen3 Camry drove with 14's, but alot of it was the tire roll. After slapping on a set of 215/50/17's my dad thought it was such a vast improvement that he picked up a set of 17's for his gen 4.

Camry's and Accords... my g/f has a 95 Olds Cutlass with a V6 and auto. The damn thing is a dream to drive, quick and solid.

I have a 2002 V6 Accord and a 1995 Toyota Camry 4 cyl. Here are the pros and cons of handling and such(personal opinion BTW)

Accord:

Pros:
Good steering response
Good brake modulation
Good cornering
Stable highway ride
Minimum Body roll

Cons:
Higher than normal tire/road noise
Harsh ride on uneven pavement
Squeek galore

Camry:

Pros:
Very quite ride
Moderate brake response
Plush ride even on gravel road
Easy to correct steering
Even after 8 years, nary a squeek in the chassis

Cons:
Lotsa body roll
Ride becomes choppy on eneven surface
Mediocre cornering limit
Nervous handling on higher speed

However, I'll still give the Camry the thumbs up in regards to total driving satisfaction.
