5S-FE vs. 2AZ-FE vs. 1MZFE

Ok, for people's reference, since there is SO much discussion on this, I've take vids od a '96 5SFE, '96 1MZFE, and '05 2AZFE. ALL Auto's. The 5SFE one here now was a bad run, so I will redo it when it's not raining for a better vid. ALL vids are at the SAME spot.

2AZ: * Edit, Holy SHIT the 2AZ is a SLUG after 90mph!

1MZ

looking closely to the 2az and the 5sfe the 2az shifts at a higher rpm while still hitting less mph than the 5sfe (2az shorter gears) for example the 5sfe shifts before 6k hitting like 40 or so mph but the 2az shifts above 6k whil being lowered than 40 mph. looking at the 1mz vs the 5sfe well it makes me wish i had that engine instead of the 5sfe i mean look how it picks up from 40 to 80 mph damn the 5sfe at the same time probably wouldnt even hit 70 mph yet.

^ that's the difference that 50whp makes in a car that's exactly the same size and weight

2az 0-70 = 10 seconds

1mz 0-70 = 9 seconds

5sfe 0-70 = 16 seconds

i think it was partially because of the rain. but still wouldnt make up for the 6 seconds.

^ Yeah, I'd take 1s off for a crappy launch, as I did not wanna spin the tires.

The 1MZ is an XLE, and the 5S is an LE Wagon. So they actually weigh just about the same overall.

The 2AZ is a 5-speed Auto.

Cool

They had both 4 & 5 speed auto's, and mated to 1mz or 3mz engines at the same time. Confusing.
And S blocks are as heavy as 1mz's for the most part. I can't tell you the flat out weight, but I know a 5s-fe is not much lighter than a 1mz-fe. I can pick up a 1mz-fe shortblock. I can't pickup a 5s-fe's. Just something to think about.

why is it so heavy? for such a heavy engine, its power output is crap.

Cool

Weight has nothing to do with output LoL!
Inline engines are long with lots of mass in the block because they have to duplpicate the entire thing so many times over. It's also an iron block...

i know, but for a modern engine it should have a decent power output to compensate for its weight or there wouldnt be much reason to continue manufacturing the engine. its fuel economy is crap too.

iron block explains ithe weight.

I'll agree with that. The i4's when they're not in good maintenanace get pretty much the high range of what the v6's tend to get in real good shape.
The new 2gr's family pretty well is dominanting the horsepower / weight ratios.
306/399lbs for the FSE - 272/ 359lbs for the FE

No other Toy engines come even remotely close to those ratios stock.
