Gen5 Touch-Up Pens

I have a 2002 LE (silver) and there are are few small paint chips that I would like to take care of.

I saw the touch up paintpens at the dealership and I was wondering if anyone here has used them and if they do a good job.

thanks for any input

excellent choice.
dealership pens are good
it is as close as it gets

it will be a 99.5% match as your color might have faded as oppose to the factory color

don't buy it from autozone.. i did that. bad mistake.
now, i get it from the dealer

Doesn't really matter what paint pen you buy as long as it closely matches the color of your car....and the fact that most people don't know how to apply the paint. Its not a apply once and its done....more is involved like cleaning the chip out with alcohol, filling in the chip with paint so it protrudes the surface...wetsanding the chip down, and buffing out to make it look brand new...clear coat if you are anal.

/\/\/\/\ Is that what they do at a body shop if you ask them to repair chips and scratches?

HOnestly man, i have no idea..i've just been reading up on a lot of detailing forums and thats what works. I mean if you think about it...twhen you see people use paint pens...you notice that the paint looks horribly applied, and the coor has no match. But if you know something about body work and paintingyou know that you have to level out the paint to the surface of the regular paint. That alone i will make it blend a little better. Then buffing out brings back the gloss. So...i would reconsider before doing DIY if you don't have the right tools..i would recomned just buy the paint pen from toyota and bring it to a detailign shops as i think it wouldn't be much to repair.

I have the pen but haven't had to use it yet. Thanks for the application info, I will save it.
