Question Late Shifting...Performance Chip?

I have an automatic 4 cylander 1997 Toyota Camry LE, & it
seems to shift late. Unless I am accelerating slowly, it usually does
not shift gears until 4000-4500 RPM or higher, depending on my rate of
acceleration. I have heard that it is possible that the previous
owner had added a performance chip that would cause this, so as to
achieve a higher top speed. Do any of you know anytihng about the
chips that can be added to Camrys? I would like to know if this is a
possibility, or if it could be a problem with the transmission. Also,
does anyone know where the chip/computer is located on the Camrys? I
would like to check for modifications.

I can make a peformance chip too. Just send it to me and I'll examine it, add some weird marking on the chip, pretend to analyze and reconfigure it, and charge you $$ for the process.

Seriously, I would doubt that your previous owner added an aftermarket chip to your camry. There isn't much of a chip market (if any) for chips for a gen5 auto 4 cylinder.
And I think the expert opinion on this forum is that the chips don't do jack.

Perhaps you have powerdrive on all the time? that causes it to shift later to but not as late as 4.5k

I can't call the previous owner. The car was a Repo. I bought it from a dealer.
