Big Plans....

hey guys.

just thought i'd post up with my plans for my cam.

i was trying to convince my dad to sell the camry and buy a gen 6 celica, which he did'nt like so much. so in lieu of that, and because we already have a lot invested in the camry, we figure we'll just do this instead:

new(er) 1mz-fe
auto to manual swap
turbo
paint job
rims

yeah, yeah, i know what you're going to say, "that will end up costing more than it would be to buy the celi," but i dont really care. i think it would be pretty dope to have a 270hp sleeper under the hood of the camry. i cant wait to see the looks on my friend's faces when my BOV goes off.
just thought i'd share!

cheers,

CSJL

Yeah you're probably right. Maybe the Celica wouldn't end up having as much power but because it's smaller and weighs less it would almost definately be faster. If you see a Celica All-Trac turbo, ditch your plans and buy it!!!

Sounds nice! Thats about what my plans include, except for the new engine since I've already got a V6. That would be awesome if both of ours go according to plan. And on the All-Trac, there was one in the paper last week, dunno if it's still there, for $7800. It was a '90.

Is your car a sedan or a coupe? If it's a sedan you're pretty much in the same boat as me. There's not much in the ways of performance to do except and engine swap and that costs a lot of money and sedans aren't exactly great for racing. I'd say at least try to get your hands on a coupe if you're gonna do a engine and tranny swap.

yeah, i gots the sedan. it sucks for tuning, definately, but on the other hand, i would for sure be able to beat up on the shitvic ricers around here, and Silver_Cartel.

yeah, i will keep you guys updated, with pics, too. i think im gonna buy a digital camera just for this project and document everything.

Cheers!

tranny swap ?

I have a 94' 4-cyl sedan and am kind of interested in doin a tranny swap. My car is all show, I know its not fast and i'm never goin to try and make it fast, but I wouldn't mind getting a manual transmission to put in it. Anyone know a price range; maybe around a grand?

I believe Ratko did the tranny swap. He's got a page with a list of all the parts you'll need and the prices that he got them for and such.
