Reverse Gear not Engaging

hi everyone. my first post here . okay so um i have 93' camry le 4 door sedan. its been good for 135,000+ miles and was working fine and all. now just before my first date with this girl, it refuses to engage into the reverse gear. when i brake, and shift it from park to reverse, it makes this wierd clicking sound as if its trying to lock into gear but its missing or something. i dont know what is going on. if anyone knows the reason or what it could be then please tell me. soon! mucho gracias.

This sometimes happened on our camry 99 manual, to get it to go into reverse when it dosent want to I just put it into first gear reved it slightly then slipped it into reverse. hope that helps
