Door Panel Removal

Hey, I've got a nasty rattle in my driver's side door panel on my 1990 camry and I want to wrap the metal piece in felt to stop the rattling. Problem is I can't get the door panel off. I know where 3 screws are, the two capped screws and the one in the door handle. I can "unsnap" the bottom part, but can't get the part near the window to come off without destroying the panel. Is it just as simple as lifting up the chrome strip? Anyone know exactly how to have it come off without destroying anything? Thanks for the info.

After you get the snaps off the bottom using a v ended screwdriver, then roll the window down and lift up on the whole panel it should pop up after you removed all the screws.

All the screws you need to remove are labeled in the pic above. I don't have a pic of the drivers side but, the screws are in the same spot.

The door handle is kinda tricky to remove. After you remove the screw, slide the whole thing forward (push on the plastic in front of the metal handle). You'll feel it unclip. Then you can kinda pull it out.

The next part is a pain in the a**. Behind the handle (inside the door) is a metal rod. The metal rod is attached to the back of the handle with a clip. You need to reach inside with your finger and undo the clip. After you undo the clip push up on the metal rod to pop it loose. Then you can remove the handle.

The black plastic cover at the top corner just pops off.

After you remove everything pop off the bottom and sides of the door panel, then lift up on the panel. Unplug whatever plugs are behind the panel.

I almost forgot about the light on the door panel. If you have a light on the door panel (mine did) you need to remove it. Its just 2 screws and the whole thing pops out and unplugs. I got rid of mine when I built a panel to replace the map pockets.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I felted the door today and no rattle anymore. I have a little story to tell though. A while back, I tried to get out of my door and the inside door handle broke. I replaced the handle with a Toyota door handle made for my 90 camry. After that, the handle stuck a little when opening. I would pull on the handle and it would stay out until I pushed it back into its normal position. A couple months later the handle unstuck itself and returned to normal. After felting the rattle in the door today, the handle sticks like it did before. Any suggestions of what it might be or how to fix it? Or like I did before, just tough it out it? Thanks for the info.

that skinny metal bar in some way is being obstucted. you know that little plastic clip that holds the bar close to door? put some oil of some sort to make it slide better. and cut away the foam padding or whatever away from it so it doesnt put pressure and make handle stick.

hope this helps
