I had a complete turbo setup till my engine blew up from too much boost.

Garrett/AiResearch T3, Blitz bov, 3s-gte manifold, Vortech fmu / boost depedent fpr, stainless steel braided lines with AN fittings, custom made adapter to go between manifold and turbo (made myself, 2.5" downpipe (made myself), and 2.5" discharge pipe (also made myself).

I also added on a MSD 6A + blaster ss coil.

Heres a pic:

More pics are at the link below:

10 pics total. Change the 1.jpg to 2.jpg and so on.

You 5S and 3S guys dont know how lucky you are to have the 3SGTE manifold bolt up... its elminates a HUGE hurdle for your turbo setups.

10psi.

Cylinder #4 is seriously f**ked up. I did a compression check after the motor blew up and #4 is holding 20psi.

Yup.

Funny thing is that I went to TAP Recycling to buy the manifold and the guy at the counter didn't believe me that it would bolt onto a 3S-FE and 5S-FE.

I had to skool him. After seeing for himself that it does bolt right on he said oh sh*t.

Oil pan from a 3SGTE will only fit if you have the earlier 5SFE without balance shafts. Been there, done that.

If you tune the air/fuel and timing right, 10psi is acheivable.

It ran for 2 weeks at 10psi then boom. It pulled strong, but the motor couldn't take it.

At first I thought I blew the headgasket, so I did a compression check. #1: 185psi, #2: 90psi, #3: 185psi, #4: 20psi.

I pulled the head off and found oil inside the intake manifold. Something happened to the pistons / rings and I was getting serious blowby.

Conclusion: The engine is f**ked.

If I do it'll be a 3S-GTE. No more 3S-FTE.

Hmm.... Didn't know that.

Good thing we didn't try fitting a 3S-GTE oil pan onto my buddies 5S-FE.

We dropped the oil pan, drilled a hole, and welded on a fitting (3/4" NPT to -8 AN).

Only thing to keep in mind when welding on the oil return fitting is to make sure it sits above the "full" line of the dipstick. Otherwise, oil will back up in the turbo and fook it up.

a little of information ... you 3s-fe and 5s-fe guys can use the HKS, TTE, TRD, Greddy stopper type head gasket for the 3s-gte ...But, the 5s-fe guys. You guys have to know that this will only work on older 5s-fe models ('92 to '94)...

the valves are very weak on the 5s-fe. As for rods I'd definitly have them shot pee'd if you can afford forge unit and you would have to run low boost...

Never heard of forged vavles. Theres stainless steel and titanium.

Some 5S-FE's have forged rods. Pauter makes forged rods for the 5S-FE, but their $700 (according to their website).
