drive axles

Still working on pulling the 2.2 engine on this 2000 camry. I'm down to the drive axles. I pried and pried on the left it wont budge. Is there a trick to removing the axle? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks in advance.

If nothing else is holding the axle in place, you will need to pop it out. The CV joint may have a notch for locating one end of the pry bar. Position the bar so as to pry out the joint, then give it a sharp and hard impact. The axle tends to pop out under impact, not pry out like a stuck bolt.

Installing the new axle also can require popping it into place. Position the slot in the spring clip at the bottom. Install the axle into the differential housing then drive it into place sharply with you hands. If unsuccessful, repeat the process. Be sure not to damage the differential oil seal.

I still can't prop it out...can someone give me more details (my car is a 99 Celica, MT.). This would be for the driver's side (LH). there are some wedges on the cv axle inner joint...just can't get any "lock" on to it with a pry bar or anything else...just slips...

Please help.

Thanks.
