painting body kit question

I painted my body kit black and applied clear coat but it doesn't have that shiny glossy surface like my car body. Am i missing a step? Here's what I did:

1) sanded surface so it's rough for primer.
2) applied 3 coats of auto primer.
3) spray 3 coats of black auto paint.
4) applied 3 sprays of clear coat

i even waxed it but still nothing close to the shiny glossy. i tried applying mass clear coat and it doesn't do much.

any help is appreciated.

Chemicals?

What paint are you using? What are you using to spray it? Where are you painting it? And lastly what made you decide you could professionally paint a a car . Most likely your problem is not heavy enough coats of clear or just not enough clear.

Dupli-Color Enamel Paint (Clear Coat)
Dupli-Color Import Auto Spray (Black)
Dupli-Color Sandable Primer
1400 grit sandpaper

I'm painting in my garage. It looks even and well coated just doesn't have that shiny coating. Unless I really have to literally soak it with the clear coat because i did spray a hefty amount. Maybe it's the buffing? or is there another brand of clear coat i need to try

Rattle Can?

The problem most likely lies in the fact that you are using a rattle can to spray your body kit. Second 1400 is to fine a grit you would have been fine with 600 not that this is the problem with the "shinyness". My suggestion to you is to sand off everything you sprayed re prime it and spray it with high quality Automotive paint such as ppg house of kolor dupont etc.... Its more money but you get what you pay for ie: your shine less paint job versus a high gloss pro paint job.
