RainX - white streaking...

Posting to see if someone has figured out a way.... I have been battling this for long... with little hopes

So i applied rain X to may camry for the first time... today it rained hard so I had to use my wipers... when the wiper wipes... there is this whiteish coating that forms...

With every swipe, an area shows up where the water seems to stick to it instead of being whisked away, then the area would just get larger and larger
i dunno what the right term is but with every swipte basically i see a light layer or white film at night... the moment I stop the wiper this film fades away

I know the culprit is RainX... as far as I know I applied it per directions.... and Oh the blades are a few weeks old.

Is there an alternate to using RainX?

Did you clean the windshield before applying? Usually I wipe the windows clean with acetone to make sure the windshield has nothing on it.

They have RainX windshield washer fluid. It works well, but I'm not sure if it will cause the same problem or not.

make sure that the glass is warm to the touch and then apply the Rain X. Let it stand for about ten minutes to a haze. Use a wife beater(White tank top for you non rednecks) and buff it off like a car wax. Always refolding it to a new clean side.

I had this problem until I used the beater. Now no worries.

Yes. It leaves a film/haze that need to be buffed off. A hari dryer helps it cure or dry on the glass faster and then use a wife beater to buff it off.

I tried RainX on my Paseo. HATED IT. It was crystal clear after application. During a rain with the wipers one, it left a haze similar to fogging, but on the outside. At night, wipers on, going under street lights was scary. Whiteout. During that, I could see better through wherever the wipers were NOT hitting.

I got sick of that quick. I hit the carwash and concentrated on spraying the windshield off.

^^ See that was the reason why I gave up on it the first time around. It had been a while and I decided to try it this year.

Any sucess stories?

Basically you have to buff the shit out of it? or does that not even work?
