I'm just curious what people have experienced, both of mine burned out in the last week. I had about 7,000 miles on them, and they lasted about 9 months. In all fairness, I drive w/my lights on about 95% of the time, even during the day. I switched to Sylvania XtraVisions, which seem to be working well so far. The light isn't as white as the SilverStars, but they do seem to be just as bright, and they cost $13 each as opposed to $25. I guess I have a hard time stomaching spending $50 every nine months on headlight bulbs, any thoughts?
Does AutoZone sell them for $15 or are you referring to the $10 rebate?

I leave them on during the daylight because I think there's a marginal safety benefit. At the least I figure it won't make me *less* noticeable to other drivers...
autozone sells em for $20 a piece around here. Anyways, I use my foglights like that. They have a relay that is tied into my running lights. So i turn on the side markers and my fogs come on if i want. That would be a good recomendation, but that is cause my HIDs look shitty during the day anyways.

What's the expectancy on OE lightbulbs. What bout xtravisions? would you say they're brighter than Silverstars? I don't particularly care for the whiteness of the light, I just wanted something brigther so I got Silverstars ($40-$10 rebate/pair). They're not really that much brigther than OE bulbs but I don't think I'm willing to pay $400+ on HIDs just for brighter light.

I just replaced my passenger side headlight after 3 years 1 month. The driver side bulb is still going strong. I've put 39,000 miles (~63,000 km) on the car so far and use the lights as DRL about 90% of my driving.
I'd say the Xtra Visions seem just as bright as the Silverstars, but the light definitely has a more yellow tint to it (which I don't mind). I also have the upgraded wiring harness from SUVlights.com, and that also made a noticeable improvement in my lighting for about $40.
I haven't done any scientific tests, but for what it's worth, I feel like I got about the same increase in light when I went from stock OEM bulbs to Silverstars as I did when I upgraded from the stock to the new wiring harness. I'm currently going to see how the Xtra Visions hold up, and then when they go I'll probably try something else from SUVlights.com, as they have a good selection of the H4 (9003) bulbs I need...
