Will 35 offset fit?

Looking at buying new rims but not sure as to how the offset works. The rims I'm looking at are 35 offset. I believe the camry needs 40/45 though... does 5 make that much of a difference?

Thanks,
Leon

I would suggest getting the proper offset for you car.. ie above +40

Usually wrong offset just looks wrong, sticking out or too sunken into the wheel well... we in the 240 world sometimes have to use spacers because of the lack of decent offset wheels in the us for our cars... Recommended offset for us is a +30 or below!

Shop around.. you should be able to find exactly what you want, there are alot of places that sell fwd offset wheels, ALOT! Shift_Spacers

Under normal surcumstances I would shop around, but in this case I am getting a really good deal on these rims. Would +35 "sink in deeper" or stick out further than +40? If it sinks in could I correct the problem with a spacer. Or maybe I'm creating a whole set of new problems...

Thanks,
-Leon

sorry for so many questions.

In reality how far would +.05 make it stick out? Even if it was a 1/4" - 1/2" out further, would it create any problems, besides rubbing the fender?

there would be no problem at all
if everytime you hit a bump the rear would either shave off some rubber of dig right into it and tear a chunk out
they may be cheap or free
but unless you spend the money to move the body panels out
or shave the hub
any way you put it it won't work properly

5 mm extra to the outside means that without shaving the fenders, you will not be able to put a tire wider than 215 in stock diameter without rubbing in the rear. And you may have rubbing in the front inside of the fender well when truning, although I'm not sure about this.

+35 is fine.

the stock offset for the 15x6 rims is +38 so those rims that you mentioned will stick out 3mm more (nothing) than the stock rim, if the rim youre buying is also 6" wide. But since I doubt that, for every inch wider you choose, add half an inch to either side of the rim. So for instance, a +35 offset rim that is 17x7 will stick out 3mm + 0.5 inches more than the stock rim.

To your point...

Is it bad to NOT have a spacer in the front if using +50 mm 17x7 rims (got 5mm spacer in the back)?

The car feels just fine (actually better directional stability/tracking than stock) and I have no rubbing issues with my 215/17-50 tires...

The rim and tire setup would be this

225 40 18 +.35offset and 8.5" wide

i dont think that should rub on the strut end of the tire, but im almost positive that it will rub the fender lip if it isnt rolled already. thats a good 1.25 inches + 3mm more wider on the outside than the stock rim. There is a CHANCE it wont rub, but it probably will, in which case i wouldnt recommend a baseball bat, but rather a professional shop that will roll your fenders using proper tools which include a heat gun and actual Fender Roller machine. Using a baseball bat ranks up there with cutting springs and reusing rod bolts straight-up "ghetto"

lol. Im pretty sure Im going to get these rims. If they start rubbing I will just have to take the car to the shop and have them roll the back fenders. Thanks for all of the advice guys! I will keep you all posted.
