QUESTIONING my CAMRY purchase!

I bought a 2007 Camry SE with a 4 cylinder in August. It has 11,000 miles on it and a rod knocking in it. The dealer is suggesting to replace the short block. I would like to get a new engine. I feel that since it is brand new that is the least they can do.

Why does it have a rod knock? Did you follow maintenence intervals? If they are putting in a Shortblock, that will fix your problem, if your cars only got 11k on it the cams and valves probably still look brand spankin new, theres not a sludge problem so theres nothing wrong with re-using your top end!!

Yes we followed the suggested maintenance intervals. I would like a new engine or a replacement vehicle because if in a year or two when we decide to trade it in the car fax report is going to show major engine repairs were required at 11 k miles. I am pretty sure that the report is not going to say that this was an factory problem. Therefor I might as well be trading one in that I have run off a cliff and landed into a huge pile of rock salt where it some how managed to land under a water sprinkler and completely rusted out.

Haha. I smell a rat. No WAY, would it be knocking by it's own accord. You would've either stuffed up on maintanence or driven the living shiita out of it

even without changing the oil, 11k isnt enough to kill the brand new engine, unless he drained the oil.

investigate lemon law's in your state, sounds like you got one.

Camry purchase

Mervdaddy,
My 2007 Camry LE V6 is three months old with 2700 miles and it needs a need transmission. Plus it has an oil leak that's on my carport where I park, but they can't seem to find where it is coming from. It also has alignment issues.

Finale diagnosis!

The dealer informed me that after the engine had been broken down that the piston rings had failed. Our loaner car is a 2007 Camry 4 cynlinder, and I have realized that our car has never driven right. The loaner car seems to have considerable more horsepower and throttle response than ours ever did. I think it has had something wrong from the get go.

As terrific and reliable as Camrys are compared to the crap coming from GM, Ford, and Chrysler, there always exists the potential for an anomaly. Seems like you drew that card.
Want a really shitty vehicle? You can buy my 2004 Chevy Express van. If you want to become suicidal, buy my '93 Eldorado.
