i know ya gonna trow me off and tell me to ask the the search link instead of yall because this question has been answer. but really i havent find a good answer yet.

i want to swap my engine with an mr2 i have an i4 engine. i want more power
and the worst of all i dont know much about engines. i read some threads that an mr2 will fit perfect on a camry but im not sure if thats right i want to know if its a waste of time swaping an mr2 to my i4 engine. i saw a thread that the price for a mr2 engine swap to a camry was about $2000<---- is that true or the price is higher<-----and if i waste that much or more money for that swap how much horse power would i gain better yet how much horsepower does an mr2 engine has.

tanx if ya dont trow me to the search link

i just want direct anwers to my questions so i can learn more about engines

i dont know whats a 5sfe or 3sfe<<---- i dont even know if thats thar right code
as ya can see im not much of a mechanic or dont know much about engines

I dont know all of the exact details on the swap. and if im wrong please correct me other members, lol. i believe you are interested in the 3sgte out of the mr2. Some celicas had that engine too. i believe your camry has a 5sfe engine. the older ones had a 3sfe. on a 3sfe camry the 3sgte would use the same motor mounts. on a 5sfe camry you would have to get custom motor mounts fabricated. My question is did you hear $2000 for the engine or total job cost? The total job is alot of $ and even more labor and effort on someones part, either you or a shop. keep in mind that you have to worry about more than just the engine. wiring transmission and and so forth have to be addressed too. this is about all i know, i hope it helps. keep digging here. youll find that this question is actually asked frequently here.

Ok a complete 3sgte with tranny, ECU and wiring will run between 1500-3000 depending on the generation you get and how well of a deal it is. Thats just the parts. Then figure about 500 to have it shipped to you unless you pick it up. Now you will have to fab a mount for one of the motor mounts and you will have to splice in the wiring. There are more things that need to be done that I haven't listed. If you do it all yourself then you may be able to get away with a 5K project. The 3rd gen is like 260 hp and I believe the 1st gen is like 205 hp. If you pay a shop to do it you may as well buy an MR2 and just mod it.
