3S-FE or 5S-FE Mods

Has anyone done any modifications to these engines? Or know a link where you can get performance parts for these engines?

Yea, I own a turbocharged 3sfe. There's not a lot of performance parts for these engines, I've ended up making most of mine myself. For the 3SFE E.L. Prototypes makes a cold air intake for it. Pacesetter makes a header for it, but it's for the 86-89 celica and you'll have to modify one of the bolt holes, it can be found at nopionline.com. You can also use TRD valve springs for the 4age, but you have to mod them a little bit. E.L. Prototypes makes cams for the 3sfe but they're expensive, I think it was like 786$. Then there's the normal work that you can do on things: port and polish, mill, and angle the head. You can also port and polish the intake and exhaust manfiolds. If you're looking to beef up internals you can use rods and a crank from a 3sgte. Hope that helped.

To djprefix

I was checking out the TRD Valve Springs. They go for $129.00. What would be the mod involved in installing the valve spring on the 3SFE engine? I'm using a bone Stock 3SFE Engine. It does have a TRD muffler and a Weapon R intake. Planing to put a Dynomax Cat Back Pipes for my RAV4. Any suggestions are welcome.

Djprefix was wrong the Valve springs will fit but they do not need to be modified. Trust me on that I have them in my 3sfe. The only thing you have to do if you put them in is to check and fix your valve clearance. However you really don't need these unless you are worried about floating your valves which you will only do if you rev higher then stock. Another reason to get stiffer springs is if you get a big enough cam that requires stiffer springs however the only cams you can get other then stock is send your stock ones out to get reground and they don't change them enough to need stiffer springs. You are not going to gain any power with stiffer springs they are just there to back you up in racing. Also if you do decide to get the valve springs you might as well take the head off and get it port and polished, bigger and stainless steel valves, 5 angle valve job, mill the head surface and send your cams out to get reground along with sending your intake manifold out to get extrude honed.

First of all sorry I didn't get back to ou earlier I was in finals. Well, question can you be a little more specific regarding the modification that has to be done to the Pacesetter Header? This is the one in question. Can you tell which one has to be modified? Im about to install one and any advice would be apreciated.

RAV4 Header

From my understanding some of the bolt holes need to be modified (enlarged). This is because the holes don't line up correctly with the studs on the cylinder head.

I would see if it bolts on first then modify it if needed.

By the way cross posting is not allowed.

Splitting up your posts / threads in 2 or more forums.

Or starting the same thread in 2 or more forums.
