So the 40 mm offset is the most widely used size? with the 5 x 114.3
I think 43 is technically the "correct" offset. But no one makes a rim with that offset (except the TRD TSW Revos) ... if you're not going over 7.5" rim width and putting super wide tires on, just stick between 40 to 45 and you'll be okay.
I can get you something better than Motegi wheels (aka pep boys wheels). A lot of people from the forums have bought rims off of me.
I can get you 5Zigen wheels for about the same price and the quality is a lot better.
Don't worry about the sizes and such. Whoever you buy the wheels from will know the correct size...
and PLEAAASE don't get IS300 wheels... get something better.
Contact me at 866-7LARIMS and ask for Yukio. I'll hook you up.

Two problems with IS300 rims (I got them on my '00 LE, same as the CE, except it had 15" rims and I think the front brakes are 20mm larger):
1. IS300 17x7 rims are +50 mm offset. The Camry is about 42 mm. You WILL need a spacer for any tire wider than 205. Meaning you'll need new studs too. So they DO NOT FIT as is unless you use a narrow tire.
2. You cannot reuse your original lug nuts from the steel wheels - need to get new ones with a washer (for lexus or Toyota alloy wheels)
This being said, you can get +42mm rims from discounttiredirect, although +40 will work fine too. The other posts already explained the bolt pattern. The other consideration is the tire size. 225/45-17 or 215/50-17 would be fine with 40 or 42 offset from what I read.
I got a total +45 offset myself (+50 mm IS300 rims plus 5 mm spacer), and my 215/50-17 tires only have 3mm clearance to the rear struts. So 225 won't fit there with +45 offset - will rub the struts. And with 35 offset they will rub the fender...

What's wrong with the IS300 (besides fittment problems)? What else would be better for less than $150 a piece in a 17x7 size (and by "better" I mean not "look better" but be stronger, lighter, ballance better, and last longer)?
Just for my information, since I got them already for good or bad

Tanks!
I'm all about aftermarket... that's all. If you can spend about $35 more per wheel, you can get some 17inch 5Zigen wheels.

I almost got 5Zgens from discounttiredirect a while back - in a retrospect, I probably should have. Would have spent only a little more than I did on the IS300 + tires + ballance + spacers + studs...
Again, why aftermarket? What would the $35 a piece more buy me (except looks)?

I think the IS300 looks are a bit bland... factory is bland in taste.
They're lighter than the stock IS300 wheels and I think it's kinda tacky to have Lexus emblems on a toyota. That's all. But shit, it's not my car. I'm just merely telling everyone what I think that's all.

It is how much the center line of the wheel is 'offset' to the right or to the left of the plane where the rim mounts to the wheel hub.
Positive offset means the wheel center line is towards the inside (the fender), a negative offset means the wheel sticks-out more.
So, if you have too positive offset, your wheel will rub the strut on the inside of the tire. Too little offset, and you will rub the fender on the outside of the tire.
Too positive offset can be corrected with a spacer (flat piece of metal b/w the hub and the wheel that pushes the wheel out). Too little offset requires changes to the fender.
