I want AC in my car. I have a pitaful 1995 Camry DX, without AC. What would I need to put ac in my car? How much would it cost? What kind of parts would i need? Has anyone tried to put ac in their cars? Was it hard? Easy? Would love some info. Its getting really hot here and rolling down the windows all the way isn't very helpful in Seattle.

you'll need, compressor, evaporator, condenssor, accumulator, accesory belt, special alluminum tube, etc etc etc....so much stuff...might cost you 1500 for parts and labour.....with that price, add hp, dun lose hp when the a/c is on, you lose from 8 to 15hp.....when its off, you still lose 3 hp by free wheeling the clutch
Yea..it is kinda late. It would also be hard to pick up another Camry. Well the one i want. My dream camry is a black 2 dr V6 5 spd. Ohhh tasty! I don't even know if those exist though. Would love to drive one.

nope, youd have to do a tranny swap since an engine swap is pretty much outta the question
but yeah, thats exactly what id want too
i wouldnt mind the same thing with an i4 but then id have to add a turbo and get the v6 tranny to handle more power

Ma car is a 1992 Camry, also without air conditionning (in Europe, many cars don't have a/c) ). I just bought a used a/c system from a salvage (>original Toyota parts but used) in Chicago area to have them shipped over here. Generally you could find an entire system for +/- 300 usd, which is not the end of the world. I have now just finished the work this weekend, it took me a whole day, I now still have to do the recharge.
Just make sure of one thing though : if you buy a system older than 1994, you'l need to make a conversion from r-12 to R-134 and buy a retrofit kit for +/- 40 or 50 $ I think.
The work is not that difficult, and all wires are already on place, you just need to plug everything and that's it. The most difficult part is the evaporator (you'll need to dismantle the glove box), but it is really ok.
Thinking of buying another car is of course a potential solution but think that if you sale your car, nobody would want it because it doesn't have a/c !!! and what you will pay for a used a/c will just make the difference of worth (or nearly).
Of course if you want to do it with new parts, then it will cost you a fortune !!! (even with aftermarket ones)
What a small world indeed !!! Especially as Camries are not that popular over here !
Where about do you live in Belgium ?
I think a commpressor gives between 300 and 400 psi ehhm I don't really remember but I think it should be in this area yes.
hey, I live in Mechelen, not too far from brussels actually, we should meet some times, perhaps
hmm 300-400... thats a bit much...
isn't there a somewhat weaker compressor for forced induction ?
because we have turbo's and superchargers, but no compressors ... ?

No problem ! My first language is actually French but I speak Dutch as well.
Less than that... what about one from a fridge ??? ;-)
Have you got any kind of turbo or something giving extra power on your Camry ? Please let me know if you have, I'd really be interested if you have something reliable and that works !
but I was just wondering if a compressor would be more easy to install... also if it would be less expensive ... (universal?)
as for now, I'm more planning to go for some show, not ricey or anything, but just cleaning the car up, I don't really think the car is that underpower as it is... never forget its not a race car...
