Suspension and etc..!

A couple of questions.. Are the strut bearings necessary? I mean the majority of all the hardware can be reused except the strut and the boot (cause they most likely will be torn/damaged). The struts themselves are expensive... ill be paying like $350 for all 4 struts and don't feel like getting the strut bearings unless necessary. How often you think I will be replacing them? Better yet how do I know if they are bad? And on average how often should the shocks me replaced?! Personally I dont see how a shock mount can be damaged unless its rusting or something.... just want to see what others think. THanks.

depending on the way you drive and the road on which you drive, the bearings and the mounts will last different times as well as your shocks. I replaced my shocks at 120k miles but my struts were still good. after replacing my struts/springs, i found my mounts busted so I had to redisassemble everything and replace the mounts.

if the suspension has over 100k, i would go ahead and resplace everything.

but thats your decision

Do a search for Monroe Quick Struts. You can replace everything using them, including the springs for not much more than replacing just the struts and the strut mounts, and there is less labor involved.

I just wanted to know what you guys opinions were. I didn't think mounts could fail unless they rust. The car has about 120K miles on them. The monroe struts with everything is like twice as much. 4 Tokico shocks would cost $350.. the monroe kit is like $200 per piece. So basically $350 vs $800. Big difference! I plan on reusing the strut bearing and the mounts. Just wanted to know what the function of the strut bearing plate is for? I don't have it on any of my other cars. Just curious. Thanks.
