Car Problems & Service Engine Light...HELP!
I'm having problems with my 1997 Camry. I was driving it, & almost every time that I am either accellerating from a stop, or if I just slow down, & then try to accellerate, my car/engine starts shaking a little, & it barely accellerates at all until it gets to 2500 RPM. When it gets to 2500, it accellerates just like it normally would, so there is a sudden surge forward as soon as it gets to 2500. It had been doing this for a little while, & then the Service Engine light came on.
Can any of you help me? I took it to a mechanic, but he can't get me in until tomorrow, so I'd like to know if it sounds serious enough that I shouldn't drive it. I'm no mechanic, but it felt/sounded like it could be a belt slipping, or something along those lines.
I hope you guys can help me. Oh, it's a 4 cylander if it's important.
