ive decided that within the next 6-8 months i gotta get a TRD S/C for my 1MZ-FE. Some things concern me somewhat.
I have no problems with the installation, i think, it makes sense the way Gibson99 did his and we have very similar cars. But thats not what concerns me, if im gonna dish out 3-4 G's on a S/C, i want BOOST! not just 4 lbs which is factory... and i read somewhere that TRD makes different size pulley's for the S/C which can put HP and TORQUE levels 300+ !!! that's what im talking about, now the S/C seems worth the money.
the only thing is i cant find anywhere which has prices on the smaller (i think 2" pulley) made by TRD, i was wondering if you did ?
thanks. i hope you and your boost are happy
Those pulleys are not made by TRD right now we are getting some 8/lbs and 11/lbs pulleys made by diferent manufacturers. So you will have to wait like me for those things.Right now im starting to check for pre 11/lbs mods'like fuel delivery and safety electronics. When all this is done i could help you with your project.Im getting some custum work done here in Montreal but i can always just get the parts made for you too and help you put them on.Right now my only problem is Money so when i get a new job i will be rolling full speed and upgrade like mad.How much hp will i have acording to my calculation `350hp at the crank and 400ft-lb torque.
You might think about getting a Limited Slip Diff if you are looking at 300HP! You will not keep that kind of power on the ground with only one front wheel turning!! Seriously, look into it! What gen camry do you have? Gen3?

yeah, but the dude that did the swap already on his gen3, Gibson99, convinced me to first swap my tranny with a 5spd before the S/C install, then get the LSD.
once im back in canada, im gonna shop around and find a place to do the tranny swap, that should be fun.

yeah, no problem, in fact i was considering a Gen4 manual tranny aswell, that way i might be able to fabricate the TRD shortshifter aswell, but if not, the 3VZ-FE shifter and pedals will have to do...
another reason why the tranny swap is necessary for the S/C is because there hasnt been a way to figure out how to put the EBC into auto tranny mode on the Gen3, so it would be giving the auto tranny's boost as if it was a 5spd, which according to gibson will eventually f**k up the tranny.
I wonder if it will be as easy finding all the aftermarket parts like LSD and clutch plates for that 3VZ-FE trany??If it fits good and can even fit on my gen 4 i would love to have one too maybe we could get a group deal.

nah, i dont want the 3VZFE tranny, i just want its interior sh** (clutch pedal, shifter, etc) since it was for the 92 Gen3, and the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch they make for them, but the actual tranny (minus the clutch) i wanna grab from a 97 gen4 manual. thats what id recommend for you... it'll be an interesting project i know that
For sure it should be quite some work and hopefully not too expensive.Anyways keep me informed and maybe we could do it at the same time and if you want i could install your s/c with you after its all done.If i get this Trany swap my car will be even faster so i should start hitting the low 14 or high 13's.Im sure if i get this done i will have to get a new clutch and a LSD for my car.
