New idea for a CIA

i think it is the same in most cars with EFI so...well i was thinking the other day that if you turned the air box thing with your filter in it upside-down and took off the bottom of the box where the clips are and cut a hole in your bonnet and mounted a bonnet scoop you would get a lot more air into your air box. True? Would rain matter? Does the filter stop water? any ideas?

huh? no comprendo

rain DOES matter... racerhex waterlocked his engine using a custom CAI i designed. he drove through a huge puddle during a rainstorm, and the filter caught a mouthfull of water. it is extremely dangerous to drive in a situation where water in large amounts enters the intake manifold. i dont know of that many people who would want to put a hole through the top of the hood for cold air.... a filter behind the bumper is just as good, if not better for practicality's sake.

warlock, if you are talking about cold air w/ a turbo, its not really necessary... the turbo is going to compress the air anyway- and if its intercooled who cares what temp the atmosphere is!

sorry about the spellings but he was talking abut turning the cars air box upsideand puting a hole in it.in the stock location there is no watergoing up there.a real cai water is a big problem.aem has a 2nd filter just for that and it goes up buy the intake.
