Do any of you have any free/cheap ways to produce a bit more power from the engine, or car overall? I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to clean the TB with some SeaFoam, but I cant really think of anything else.
I read a thread here a while ago which talked about changing the kick down bolt, and I did that, but I was wondering if there was anything else.
For you?
The correct Denso, or NGK plugs & turn them into the orientation that provides the most powerful burn. Now... You'll really need about $500 in dyno time to figure that free horsepower, or two out, but there you go. Free mod.
Clean anything partaining to the intake tract.
If you can afford to ditch the cat, cut the flanges off the exhaust pipe, slip on a 2 1/2" pipe & use clamps to hold it down. Well hope it seals, but still. Or just bust the cat out.
Relocate the knock sensors LoL!
Flushb your oil supply out with somethings trong. Diesel, seafoam whatever. Then run Mobil1 5w-20 synthetic. Flush the transmission fluid out.
May wanna bump up the thermostat a heat range so the engine runs hotter, and bump the radiator cap up to let the coolant run more heat without boiling.
Make a new intake.
Use a set of pots, a relay & fashion a wide open throttle switch so you can get a small tune done @ wot without changing closed loop & having it re-tune itself.
For that matter... Since we have too much fuel for a stock engine. People could probably disconnect the FPR so it drops the fuel pressure down some.
eBay + $500 = nawz.

toys said most of it. also can remove your EGR and make a blockoff plate for it. they will only help at REALLY low RPM's.

5 Lug Corolla WHAT?
I was thinking about removing the EGR valve, but that would also need a resistor on the sensor correct? And isnt the purpose of the EGR valve to reduce emissions and slightly improve fuel economy?

^ The cost of nitrous oxide varies with the region of the country, however a general estimate would be between $3.50-5.00 per pound.

The formula for calculating your nitrous usage is: 0.8 lbs N2O X 10 seconds = 100 horsepower. I.E. If your system is jetted for 100 horsepower it will use 0.8 lbs of nitrous for every 10 seconds of usage.
about the increase in hp per dollar, it is true that dinitrogen monoxide provides the greatest hp gain per dollar but it needs to be refilled. forced induction might be expensive but in the long run, it is cheaper. same goes for the other modifications that do not need to be refilled.
$8000 can give you approximately 4.5-5 hours of continuous dinitrogen monoxide of 100 hp increase while the same amount of money can get you a turbo setup of 200-300hp increase that lasts a long time if you take care of it.
but then again you do not need that power continuously so.

remember with any mods, you need to maintain it, no matter what it is.
put aside 1x - 1.5x the money you spend in petrol for maintenence/service work.

For some reason I was picturing NOS being alot more expensive, but up to $5 per pound isnt much at all.
I wouldnt need the power all at once, most likely just if I wanted to beat someone in a quick race from the let go, which would be like 5 seconds.
Just another question, is it dangerous to give a shot of NO2 the second you floor the gas pedal, or is it something that has to be used while you're already driving?
