3rd Generation Opinions on Castrol GTX Startup/Magnatec

Hey all,

I'm approaching time for my first (real) oil change, and was seeing Castrol Startup at my local stores. I was wondering if anyone else uses it in their Camry. I don't seem to find a whole lot about it, so just wondered if it really did as well as advertised.

And just for all those outside of the US, it's called Castrol Magnatec (same stuff, dunno why it's called something different here in the states).

Most likely I'm going with another round of valvoline max life 10w-30 and oem filter, haven't had any trouble so far. Just wanted some opinions on the Castrol stuff.

its just castrols standard dino oil...ie GTX3 etc.

their marketing is more bullshit then shit from a bulls ass.

the reason its not called magnatec in the states is because castrol got sued for false (magnetic oil) marketing.

I tried almost every kind of oil and gas, oil and tranny additive for a long time on my cars til i got tired of it. Most of them don't work as claimed, and most probably dont do anything at all except lighten your wallet. You will read and hear from plenty of knowledgable people/sites/articles/ books that will tell you the same. But something just wants to make us believe that miracles are sold by the bottle.
There are very few additives and amazing oils that do what they claim. The only one i can think of that even comes close is Mobil 1. If you want to try this oil, it probably won't hurt anything except your spending money. But if you waited a while for more info you wouldnt hurt anything either.
