4th Generation How hard to replace a hood?

My hood won't close all the way and it's bent from an accident. .com has them for 200 bucks. First of all, is that a good deal? Second, can a layman install this or is it more complicated than I'm thinking?

First of all, is that hood you are looking at painted or unpainted?

IMHO, a layman can install a hood. Just take your time. You need to get the side to side adjustment and front to back adjustment right. It may take a few times of loosening the bolts, moving the hood and then retightening. Then move on to the proper adjustment of the front latch. Don't be in a hurry and it can be done.

OK sounds pretty easy. I'll get someone to help me. It comes primered, so I probably should get it painted first before installing?

I would, but don't be surprised if it isn't a perfect match. Have you considered calling around to a few salvage yards in your area and see if they happen to have a usable hood in your color? It could save you quite a bit of money.

That’s right, as Mike states non-OEM body parts many not fit up exactly like OEM. Also suggest finding an OEM from a Toyota parts car, salvage yard.

How about this..??

The new "OEM" hood costs 200 plus shipping... After that, you have to get it painted which would add up to the total cost...

Have you considered a VIS OEM Carbon Fiber Hood..?? Improves the looks, reduces weight and the cost will be approximately the same, perhaps a little bit more expensive but worth the extra couple of bucks...

Yes, I have considered carbon fiber for the hood. Should I look online somewhere for it or should I go find one in person to make sure it's going to fit my camry?

Look online for the VIS OEM Carbon Fiber Hood... You should be able to find good deals... Look on eBay...

If you do get it, also get Hood Pins... A MUST for CF hoods...

I'm sure it'll be a perfect fit, no doubts about that.. I'm thinking about getting one myself but shipping will be VERY expensive to my country...
