Hi all,
was thinking of buying a 07 camry. was all set to buy the v6. i drove the 4 cyl and i was impressed but was still thinking of the v6. can anyone with the 4 cyl give me any advice ? I saw a beauty LE 4 cyl silver with the sports grill (silver not black) with side moldings..I liked it alot but its a 4cyl.... Only thing that made me hesitate was the v4 and all the dirty fingerprints on the inside door panel where the suede is ? looks like someone ate a sticky bun and left it in the car... lol any advice is appreciated. this willbe my first toyota. i currently drive a 10 yr old v6. thanks
I agree. It will be a bit cheaper and you will get a few extra mpg, but when the time comes you need power, like passing somone, or just trying to show off, you'll be saying "why didnt I spend the extra money and get a V6..." Then you will be on the forum here a few years later asking how to switch it with a V6 :P

does anyone have problems with the alloy wheels. i have had them dented and sometimes they release the air in colder weather. are steel wheels any better other than being cheaper.?
Pluses for the I4. Cheaper to buy, easier to work on down the road and therefore cheaper, and slightly better fuel mileage.
Pluses for the V6. More power.
I would suggest you drive both and then decide which engine you feel comfortable with.
As far as alloy wheels are concerned, they have 3 benefits. They look nicer, they allow for slightly better handling as there is less sprung weight at the point of road contact, and they allow the brakes to cool off a bit better due to the air that can pass through them. As far as minuses, they are more expensive and you could have a problem like you have now as they get older. Aluminum alloy doesn't rust, but it does corrode (it's the way aluminum oxidizes). This problem usually comes years down the road. The fix is to remove the tire from the wheel and clean the surface area on the rim where the tire seats to that rim and then reinstall the tire. This problem really varies by manufacturer and if and when it does surface, it will be years down the road. I have a 94 Camry with alloy wheels and have never had this problem. An older Camry that I had (an 86) did have this problem. I had a 98 Camry until recently and also never had the problem.
As far as the car with the dirty interior, if you are seriously thinking of buying it, ask the dealer to clean it up before you would consider it. If it doesn't come clean, don't buy the car. There are plenty of others out there now and you can also order one the exact way you want it.

I believe all 07 Camrys (V6 or I4) now come with 4 wheel disc brakes.
The 4 cyl is fine for flat landing with lighter loads (people and cargo), gets a little better mileage and is easier to work on. If you want the V6 get it, otherwise as stated, you will always been wondering. If money is not a concern, get the V6.
Alloys are fine, but watch for corrosion starting along the bead line. Keep them clean and the road salts washed off. The steel wheels are pretty much bullet proof. All depends on the look you want.
On the 2007 models, all Camry use 4-wheel disc brakes with drum in disc parking brake (which seem to suck compared to drum brakes when parking on a hill).

well this after noon i took a test drive in the 4 cyl with steel wheels again... pick up is not as bad as i thought it would be, but i still might end up with the six with the alloys... we shall see. thanks again
