USA 01 Headlamp bulb short???

Hi, I'm new here and hopefully I can contribute in the future, but right now I got a low beam headlamp that won't stay on (passenger side). I replace the bulb (Sylvania standard 9500) and was care full not to touch the glass (rubber gloves) and I also sprayed the socket with WD40, but after a day or so of working the light goes out again. If I take out the bulb and re-seat it the light comes on, but as I said it won't last long. Any ideas on how to test the socket or trace a short?

Thanks ,Chet

If you meant a 9005 bulb, that's for the High Beam. 9006 is for the Low Beam.

Might check the socket for corrosion at the electrical contacts. WD-40 may not be removing this. Use a little fine sandpaper or a coarse eraser. If a short, I would think you would trip the breaker or blow a fuse.
