just some pre-emptive thinking for possibly putting turbo, and obviously to get the most out of it i'd wanna have free flowing exhaust but i dont want to have a 10 inch diamter exhaust that lets the whole dam town know that im driving (plus i think gigantic exhausts look really bad)

oh yeah and why does it matter? shouldn't mufflers be interchangeable, since all they hook up to is just a pipe?

different engines = different tones in sound....

i.e. 4banger vs v12....or in our possible cases....4banger vs v6

It really matteres when you get into the gen4s when you have actual catbacks you can by. The apex is very quiet and then you have JIC which is loud. to get quiet, larger pipe, two resonators and a muffler, all custom.

Yeah, larger diameter. Resonators are between your muffler and your cat. It looks and acts just like a second muffler to help suppress noise.

Turbos tend to be a bit qieter as well because the turbine helps muffle some sound (at least until the wastegate opens)
