ok like a week ago i opened up the airbox for the first time, and somethign seemed weird to me. it looked like the intake was a cai or some sort. the airbox was near the engine, but the other tube (going opposite from the one going to the engine) dips down below to a space infront of the wheel..... wouldn't this be a cai?

No.
The other tube that your talking about goes into a resonator.
CAI = cold air intake. The filter is usually mounted inside the fender well away from the engine.
hmm.... ok i guess i have a lot of my thoughts mixed up cause i thought resonators are on the exhaust side of the engine. to me it looks like the tube is just straight and just sucks air in.
thats weird i checked today and i have a stock cai lol. someone changed out the airbox and put in a box with a attachment. Weird because i bought it striaght from the dealer brand new and i didn't put it in
thats exactly what im seeing.. tube from the engine goes to the airbox witht eh filter in it. otherside of the airbox has a tube going down and then i looked from the underneath and i see the the end of it there about infront of my left wheel. why would the resonator make it not a cai anyways? it still draws that cold air from there, even if it goes through a resonator

Theres a resonator on the intake too. Its inside the fender well.
if the filter is sitting behind your front bumper, you are getting cold air. your stock airbox will not give you nearly as much flow as a CAI even if its pulling in cooler air than a short-ram intake
I would call the OEM intake (with removed resonator) a "cold air box", similar to the Comptech Icebox available for Hondas. Theoretically, an airbox-type intake system will draw more air as opposed to a CAI. The long intake tube of the CAI poses a restriction at higher RPM's. There are numerous dyno plots of CAI vs cold air box, which the CAI usually gives you a "hump" of power and torque between 2000-4000RPM, but at higher RPM's, the cold airbox makes more power than the CAI.
