CK Engine LGT PO 446

Light came on yesterday. Autozone told me it was in the evap system. Anyone with some experience in this issue? Thinking about changing the VSV in the engine comp and maybe trying a junk yard charcoal canister to see what is actually wrong before I jump in and spend a lot of money.

BTW it's a 2000 I4 Solara. I came here for the exposure. Not much going on in the Solara forum. It's just a 2 dr Camry anyway.

Evaporator emission control system vent malfunction. I don’t think the gas cap is included in the trouble code but might check the gas cap gasket anyway. Check the fuel tank vent system for damaged vacuum hoses, canister, might be VSV valve. For more detailed info download the Gen_4 Diagnostics Section from the link below and find this code.

It's much more likely that the VSV on the canister is inop. You really shouldn't have to change the whole canister out and on the Solara there is plenty of room to r n r it. This is just a guess, but replace that before you do the whole canister.
