Crazy Camry Adventures!

Hey fellow Camry lovers! You do love your Camry, right? Have the 2 of you been through some high and low times together? Have you done some seriously whacked out shiznet to your Camry that you'll forever regret? Then let us know! Here you can post about some of the craziest crap you and your Camry have been through.

Here's some of my crazy Camry adventures:

*It was real late at night, or should I say, real earlier in the morning, like about 1 something am. Anyway, there's this website called www.cardomain.com where you can post pics and info of your ride. I wanted to post pics of my Camry, and was looking for a nice background. (Don't ask why I was going about taking pictures of my car at like 1 in the morning.) :p Anyway, I happened upon this humongous church that was light up and I thought it would make a nice background for my car's picture. In particular, I wanted to take a picture of my car in front of the church. There was just one problem though-there was no parking lot in front of the church, just on both sides of it. There was only grass in front of the church. So lil stupid me had the brilliant idea of just saying "screw it" and drove the Camry onto the grass and in front of the church. I got out, but when I put my foot on the ground, my foot sank in slightly. Hmmmm, did it rain recently? Well anyway, I figured I had better hurry up and get my car out before it sank in too deep. So I got in, started her up, put it in reverse, and........well.......lots of mud flung everywhere.......all over my Camry.......that I had washed earlier that very day with the intent of taking pictures of it later on. So here I am stuck in front of this nice looking church, didn't have my cell phone with me, my washed car now dirty, and not a single picture taken. Well, after all was said and done, I got a nice little workout from walking about 2 miles to the nearest pay phone to call my dad to help get me out, a car with mud all over it, my parents madder than the dickens, the church threatening to press charges if I didn't do something about the 2 big ruts my tires left in the ground, and a picture that I took of my car stuck in the mud (for memory's sake). Damn, life sure can hand you lemons at times!

*It was around the end of my fall semester at college. There was a tornado warning in the area, and it had been raining HARD all day. Well after my classes ended, I loaded up in the 4 banger, but I noticed that my "opened door" light didn't come on like it normally does when I open my door. Gee, now one could only wonder what that means, especially when one also notices that the switch for his headlights is still on, but his headlights aren't. So yeah, basically my car's battery is now dead. After waiting in my car nearly an hour for someone to show up, I got my cables and out and we jumped my battery. Well, there's one headache temporarily relieved for the day, or so I thought.....
I pull out and head towards the intersection to go home. Before that intersection is a couple of red lights. When I got to the first red light, as soon as I came to stop, my car died. I tried starting it....no luck. I then turned on my hazard lights. Geez, now even they don't work!! So yeah, basically my car died again.....at a red light.....in the pouring rain with a tornado watch......with lots of traffic behind me. Oh, what a day this has been! How could it possibly get any better?! Well I couldn't just sit there, so I quickly got outta my car and ran to the guy who was behind me and told him that my car had died and he'd have to try and go around me. Well needless to say, this certainly didn't help traffic any. I ran across the road to try and get help. I went into a local McDonald's and asked 2 dudes if they'd help. They said they would, but evidently they were more worried about finishing their burgers first so I just left. Fortunately a cop soon appeared outta nowhere and I told him what happened and he told me to get in my car and put it in neutral and he'd use his car to bump mine to a nearby empty parking lot while I steered my car. Well, after he bumped my car into the parking lot, ol' John Law must've decided he had better things to do, cuz right after he bumped me into the parking lot he left! And without even helping me jump my battery again! Is nothing sacred anymore?! So yeah....once again I'm stuck in pouring rain. Well I didn't just sit there and wait for someone to get a clue so I got back out and ran around to some local places to see if anyone could gimme a hand. Eventually I found this one older guy and he jumped my battery. When all was said and done, I had a small scratch on my rear bumper (barely noticable, fortunately), wet clothes and wet wallet, very wet driver's seat (ugh!) , and a muddy interior. Well at least I got home, and all that traffic that was behind me at that red light made it as well. Shortly after this incident I tested my battery and sure enough it was bad. So currently I have a new battery and have since made sure to remember to turn my headlights off before getting outta my car. Zoiks!

Damn... sucks to be you. At least your windows were up when it was raining, and worst yet, the tornado would've put you out of your misery.

well, my dad was driving my camry, and some dude honks and says...yo man! your radiators busted. so we pull to the side of the road, and my radiator is indeed leaking like crazy. my dad thinks of a brilliant plan of driving really fast down the highway back to teh mechanics place...so the highway air will cool down the engine...i try to convince him otherwise, but he wouldn't listen...

we get a block away from the mechanics place, smoke suddenly billows everywhere...mechanic dude comes and tows it back...he looks at the engine bay, and asks

where's the engine? it completely melted into itself

Bout the most interesting experience I've had was actually outside of my car at a rest area. I almost got into a fight with this greasy biker who was getting all beligerent fending off the people trying to help his heroin-waif girlfriend, who happened to be lying facedown in a pool of blood having a seizure at the time. That was pretty freaky.

3rd gen Camry E-Break Slides, Drifting, Madness:

(do not attempt)

I go to school near Dallas, Texas...where it's NEVER supposed to snow. One day last spring semester, it decides to snow...and being Texans, we don't know what the hell to do, so my school closes down for two days while the roads are all iced over. My freinds and I where bored out of our minds sitting around in the dorm, so we decide to test my Camry's new tires and carbon-metallic break pads

We drove out to a big deserted parking lot which was covered with a few inches of very slick ice. First off, I get going about 30mph and then turn hard to the right and slam on the breaks. The result: my car spun almost completly around and came to a stop...to the amusement of all. Next, I drive in a really big circle....the faster i go around this circle, the less traction i get, so at one point, my car is moving perpendicular to the way it is pointed!....awsome we all thought... We then thought reverse would be more fun. Going about 20 in reverse, I pull up on my e-break, and simotaniously turn hard and throw it into first gear (thinking i'm going to pull off an awsome stunt or something)...the car slides around and I gun it in first...since we are on ice, and the laws of physics apply to my car, we start to spin out of control..."weeee"...... after several revolutions, i let off the gas and decide i've abused my camry enough for today.

In a similar story, it had recently snowed here. So I decide to do a little snow drifting in the Camry. So I go around this slight bend, don't know how fast, and hit the e-brake. The back end swings out more than expected, I over-corrected and hit the gas a little, and the car just whips out, a 270 I guess in the complete opposite direction as we were sliding and we end up backwards, wrong side of the road, about 4 feet from a fire hydrant. It was quite a rush

Came out of a 7-11 parking lot at night in Orlando while visiting Disney World. Went to cut across the two north bound lanes to get into the south bound lanes, but didnt' notice the nice median inbetween, cause it was 10pm and quite dark out. Of course I had gunned it to make it across the north bound lanes before the next cars came, nailed the median, and went flying into the air, going across the south bound lanes too and into the parking lot across the street, almost nailing a guy on a bike in the process. We had to sit there for a minute to figure out what had just happened and wipe the crap off our seats. Fun times in my old 93 camry wagon.

Going bout 50+mph at 3am... me being a dumb ass, thinks I have "SUPEIOUR TRACTION" or some shit like that... which i dont... and decide to go turn/ wanna be-drift into this parking lot, well I wasn't thinking about the transition from black top to that shitty "lightcolored concrete" and don't make it to the parking lot... (right now I am w/ my gf and thats it...) (ohh yeah and this was like 2+ years ago... so I don't have my liscence! <- what a dumbmotherfugger I was!) anyways... I know I am not gonna get turned into the lot, so I put on the brakes HARD! Then I notice a fire-hydrant! OHH FUG! I am going head on... so I flip the wheel the other way and try to counter steer with tEh horizion line... now I am losing mad traction... well I avoid the hydrant... end up in some small bushes... roll out quick... go to a "safe spot" check me ride... its fine... one 1/8" of an inch paint chip no biggie... my gurl is just sitting next to me... laughing her ass off...
