I have a strange problem with my Toyota camry 98 ( 91000 miles). From two day check engine light comes on when I put the key in ( without starting the car). When I start the car the light goes off.
I took the car to autozone ..and they used their device ..but it did not give any code ...instead it said " passed " ... is this strange behaviour...?
I dont know if I said it right ...the light is on when the engine is not on ...and the key is inserted ..once the I start the engine ..light goes off ...
you mean to say that if light is off after engine starts then there is no problem...??

That is exactly correct. The light comes on as you crank the engine. It goes through a series of system checks and then goes out as the engine starts to run. As stated above, the only time there is a problem, is if the light stays on after the car starts.
my camry always have the check engine light on,i even went to auto zone they used their device and it said that it passed. The problem went away for 30 minutes and then the light came back on.
