CheckEngine light ON but No codes found

Hi guys ,

I have a strange problem with my Toyota camry 98 ( 91000 miles). From two day check engine light comes on when I put the key in ( without starting the car). When I start the car the light goes off.

I took the car to autozone ..and they used their device ..but it did not give any code ...instead it said " passed " ... is this strange behaviour...?

can somebody suggest what to do ...?

thanks

KK

The Check Engine Light should come on until the engine starts.....if it was'nt before you - had a problem. Not now !

Thats exactly how its suppose to work. With the key in the ACC or ON position, the Check engine light as well as some others will be on.

The only time you will have codes is if the check engine light is on while the car is running. When its off, its perfectly normal.

That is exactly correct. The light comes on as you crank the engine. It goes through a series of system checks and then goes out as the engine starts to run. As stated above, the only time there is a problem, is if the light stays on after the car starts.
