power steering problem

i am havin a problem with my steering. it's not seems to be stiffer than it used to be. i drove it before i left for a trip, came back and the power steering fluid was low. so naturally i just thougth it was that, i filled it to where it should be, and it still didn't fix the problem. if i'm going around a corner and its stiff, sometimes it lets up, and gets less stiff. i am thinking it might be the pump startin to go, or the belt being loose on it. any input guys? it's a 90 camry V6

Same Problem with my 91 V6, Really pissed me off, till i found the problem, I had a leaking power-steering hose. The hose is all the way in the back by the wiper fluid pump. Just jack up the car and turn the wheel and check it out. The hose from my dealer cost $250.00 What a rip! Also they had to install it cause only they can fix it. So jack up your car and check for leaks. Reply back of what u see. If nothing , just go to your TOYOTA dealer! Hope i Kan Help!

thay make fluids that make the leak go away..i knew someone who did the same on his camry....it went away for 2 years...but then it came back..n he rectified it...so you might wanna try that route..could be the hose or the pump!

You can replace the hose (high pressure hose) yourself. One end bolts into the top of the power steering pump and the other end bolts to the steering rack.
