if it'll give 800cfm, it shoudl provide a 4 cyl with max 1 psi

somethign similar

http://www.electricsupercharger.com/

its not much of a gain at all, but the idea is there, hopefully in the future we'll be able to get the same kind of cfm as a turbo or supercharger

so ummm what if they made something that ran like... 2000+ watts? you'd need to upgrade your alt but in theory you could geta lot of power... unless there is some limit about the max speed/cfm created by electricity.

well there are limits to bearings, but we're getting better, i think the big problem is getting the fan spinnign faster, but if the tips go supersonic, then you loose a lot of airflow

something that would funnel down to the 3in diameter of the intake with multiple compressor fans would be ideal (front half of a jet engine)

but if you put in a bigger alternator, then you're robbing the engine of more HP, probably more than you're creating

yep, very old discussion.

there are some big lincoln luxury cars that use 2 batterys and have a similar setup.

the problem is not pushing a certain amount of cfm, its a difference of COMPRESSION. even a really nice electric motor doesnt actually compress the air, not anywhere near a turbo or s/c. cfm is a unit for moving air, not compressing it
