does anyone elses car alarm freak out whenever you open the door with the key instead of the remote, open the trunk with the key before unlocking the doors, or opening the doors from the inside when the doors are locked via remote from the outside?

Hmm I suppose the alarm have manual shock sensor adjustments?

I have it on my aftermarket one and I can adjust the sensitivity of it.

Well, this is the way the car alarm works. You have to arm and disarm using your remote. If you don't disarm the system using the remote, even if you have a key, or open from the inside, the alarm would go off because you havn't disarmed. The only way to disarm is using the remote, or sticking the key in ignition and turning it to on. Otherwise, it'll go off if you open any doors or hit it hard.

One time, I was washing the car with the alarm on, and I didn't know. When I was drying it off, it finally went off- scared me, but I can't help but wonder that I was washing the thing for the last 30 minutes- someone could be keying the car for 30 minutes, or possibly working on the doors for 30 minutes before the alarm goes off...funky eh?

I don't get what you mean by freak out? I think that's how the alarm system is supposed to work...on my car, if you open the doors with just a key, it'll go off. You have to deactivate the alarm with a remote no matter what.

On my ES300 (dunno if same alarm system as Camry), I can use the key from the outside without triggering the alarm.

Opening from the inside with the alarm armed will trigger it for sure.
