I have a 94 I4, I was going to just put a K&N cone on it but then I thought that it would be pulling in to much hot air. So I can get a custom CAI made for me and the cone will be behind the wheel shielding/bumper area... My question is, when driving on the highway on a rainy day, won't it suck up a LOT of water... the air will be being sucked in through all the joints in the shielding so water can get in.

is this correct? Bad?

Any water taken into the engine will evaporate in 0.2 seconds. The only concern is when your filter is immersed in water. Then you'll have a problem. AEM has a by-pass valve for that danger.

Ya I have herd of that valve, I am not that concerned with it being totally immersed in water. I was just wondering if the subsequent damp air would lead to faster corrosion of parts

For now I am just going to put the cone on until I find a shop that will do a good job for a good price (although putting a cone on that is going to suck in hot air will just lower performance, I just like the sound!!

thanx for the reply

Dont worry about water,it will not hurt any parts or lead to corosion cause it will only be in there for a nano-secound.You should worry more about snow if you live around here.

I heard somewhere that there was a recall on the AEM water by-pass valve. Apperantly, a piece of it becomes loose and gets swallowed into the engine That can't be good.

The recall only applies to certain bypass valves sold within a specific time period. No worries now.
