Painted intake manifold and valve cover

Well I was bored this morning, so I painted my intake manifold and valve cover.

I also sanded off some of the rough edges (from the casting) on the intake manifold with a dremel.

I used Dupli-Color engine enamel (500 degree). Dark ford blue and clearcoat.

Thanks.

I fixed the link to the picture.

I forgot to say that I was tempted to bust out the air die grinder to port the intake manifold. Unfortunately the only way to port the entire runner is to cut the manifold apart then weld it back together or have it extrude honed.

Aluminum is a bitch to tig weld so I said screw it for now.

Nice job on the painting. Looks professional. I hate when people do things half ass to their car and you can tell they did. Glad to see you took your time and did it right.

Not yet.

I found out what happened to the engine though. A part of the #4 piston melted.

Heres a pic:

Jesus Christ you got that mother hot as hell to melt that piston. Did you ever decide what you are going to do with your camry?

10psi boost.

Weird thing is that only #4 melted.

Compression check after engine blew showed:

#1: 185psi
#2: 80psi
#3: 185psi
#4: 20psi

My friend thought I blew a hole through the piston when I told him #4 was at 20psi.

JDM 3S-FE or full out 3S-GTE swap.

I really want to do a 3S-GTE swap, but another 3S-FE would be a whole lot easier and alot less money.

Going to be building another turbo for the 3S-Fe if you get it? I still might have to sell my damn car, my mom's pushing hard again. So if you get a 3S-FE I'll have some parts to sell you

Almost brand new. Engine has less then 35,000 miles.

I found one for $225 (on sale) from a local importer (Attarco Japanese Motors).

Nippon Motors wants $325. They said it would be about $470 shipped to my house. Their in So. Cal.

TAP Recycling wants $425, but its a US 3S-FE and it has at least 100,000 miles on it. So screw that. The only good thing about them is that their local (i'm about 25 minutes away from them).

Not quite sure on the hp. I do know that JDM motors in general burn cleaner and they have more power due to no smog equipment (egr).
