High pitched wine? It might be the turbo you forgot you installed a few years back...

What kind of sound you talking about? Does it sound like a turbo?

I know the 4Runner sounds like a leaf blower if you rev it when it's cold. It's the auto choke...I suspect.

Sounds like your belts are slipping. What part of the motor is the noise coming from? Have you pinpointed it?

i have the same problem after installing my new intake. it sounds like a high pitched hissing noise. i thought it may be the intake sucking in more air. but it sounds kinda nasty to me. i haven't heard any other intakes before so i wouldn't know.

after the engine warms up though it goes away.

does something need to be reset after installing an intake? is it supposed to sound like that?

thanks for the help ppl....

Rayray,

It's a good idea to reset the computer after chaning the air flow.

Pull the fuse in the block behind the battery for about 1 minute and put it back. Then the ECM will relearn the air flow characteristics...

This won't change that sound though!

Steve

You should reset the ECU but, you don't have to. It'll adjust by itself.

The hissing sound coming from the intake is normal when the engine is cold.

You want to pull the EFI fuse. Its inside of a black plastic box right behind the battery. Theres other fuses and relays in that box.

Yes.

I dunno why ppl bother disconnecting the battery when all you have to do is pull the EFI fuse.
