ok everyone i have a 1996 gen 3 camry and i would like to drop it but i dont wanna spend alot of money in the process
what are a good brand of lowering springs to get?
i heard eibach and h&r are the best but are $$$ but if i can get them under $200 i would be happy
sprint springs suck but thye are cheap like $100 and i could afford them any other good brands i i want between a 1" and 2" drop nuthin more i have 17's on my car
ok next when dropping the car do i also have to get new struts and shocks is it necessary? do i have to?
i dont want to but i will get them if i have to but they are also alot of money, more than the springs
what are some good brand of those
ok someone help me please im really confused with all this car lowering stuff help me pleasee post links prices andyhting thanx dave
You could get a hacksaw from a hardware store for $15 at the most. Check out the Camry/Solara FAQ Sticky. That should help you out with choosing, however it won't help with cost.

hmm do you need struts with your lowering springs?? the answer is no, but i would highly recommend waiting. the results of the drop will be much more satisfactory with a set of performance struts.
if you want an even drop and are really strapped for cash you can cut the stock springs (but dont say i told you to do it). this way you can get a more reliable and even drop, and still maintain the stock springrate.
if you were like me and just HAD to have your car dropped immediately, you can cut the springs now and save up for a nice suspension combination (like whiteline springs & rear swaybar with tokico struts), and install it all at once to completely revamp the suspension.
right now my setup is 3 coils cut from the stock front springs, intrax on the rear, and tokicos all around. the car is stabilized with a whiteline swaybar.
dropped 4.5" in front and 2 in back.... the car handles like a champ
wow now this is getting confusing jon u mind talking to me 1 on 1 on AIM IM me at daveeisner69 if possible thanx im such a newbie and uneducated in this field
Aye man I got a 99 camry le on 18"s with 225/40 ZR 18 tires and i was able to drop it 3.5inches with a full bodykit and i don't have any problems. I got the eibach springs and cut them. don't cut the stock ones. the struts are to weak to support weight. you will hit the bottom of the car on the road on any bump. especially if you pack people in it. save them in case you decide to sell the car later on. stock springs cost more than eibach springs. basically you get what you pay for. if you do get the eibach springs and decide to cut them. make sure you get somebody that knows what theyre doing so it comes out even. i would also recommend getting either airbags or stiffer struts. if you look at the bottom of the car, there are two beams that go from the front to rear that are lower than the frame. go slow on bumps and don't get carried away with lowering it more. do you already have a strut bar. very important for lowering camrys. get a front and rear. OBX has them for cheap. making sharp turns with camry's the rear will hit rearwell. use a pipe to bend them in. if you want more parts for cheap for your camry check out OBX, or a body kit. www.extremedimensions.com laterz. and good luck.
check www.overboost.com for coilovers for the camry. it's a little more expensive but worth buying.
heres a pic before i put the bodykit on...sorry no daylight pic
Hey old man. nah i dont got any more pics. this picture is the only one i have of my car it's like almost a year old. I'll post more as soon as i take more pictures. i'm painting the car next month. so i'll do it after that.
Dood! 3 coils! Wow! I was sketched out about having 1.75 coils off my front whitelines. My Vogtlands look good in front but I think I'm still gonna chop a half to a full coil off em.

Yea, I want to know too! I'm putting my new Vogt's on my gen5 this saturday (Just got them in the mail from Jack). I hope everything works ok with the stock McPherson struts. But alas, it's either that, or no Vogt's, since there aren't any aftermarket struts out yet. How low of a drop did you end up with (have they setteled yet)?

You need to do a LOT more research before you start talking crazy like this. Coilovers cost up to 1500$...
