I know the 2nd generation Camry was popular (rightfully so..it's a great car). Does anybody know the sales number total for all of them? 3 kids at my small school have a 2nd gen Camry and I see them everywhere.

Year Camry's sold in US
2006 448,445
2005 433,703
2004 426,990
2003 413,296

2001 390,449
2000 422,930
so take an average of 4 yrs- 15%-20% ? cause it was so long ago... so i guess chances are there's still about 500,000 gen2 camry's still on the road in the US ? wow that's a lot

It seems like more were sold than were, because we habitually assume a large proportion of the original cars are now out of service. However, the VAST majority of gen2 Camrys are still operational. If I had to guess, I'd say 65-75% of them are still humming.

wow i was gonna say a million billion cause theres one on every street in Canada
No kidding. There's one five houses down from my place, and two of his neighbors have one, and a few more down from them. I see them everywhere on the commute every morning/afternoon, even the occasional All-Trac. Too bad most of them are rusty up here, it's hard to find a nice one.

Yeah, the rust is horrible--and it's the only reason I ever see these cars coming into the scrap yard where I work. They ALL run when they come in, but you can't even dream of getting them safetied--ever again.

What about gen 1's? How many of those do you think are still out there.

I know mines still is running so far, odd knock on the top of engine sometimes though, goes away after a while.
I think there's 3 or so Gen1's in this town, a '86 SD, 86' HB and a '84 SD. Both in not 'cared' condition but body seems to be holding up from what I observed. There used to be a older '84 LE but that I don't seem to see around. That '86 HB in this town I see every so often that is pretty rusted out in town though.
I believe that there's a white LE '83 Camry for sale on this island with like only 67K on it and in very good condition for like $1295. Too bad I just recently got a Cressida. I'd hate to see that car go to a person who will use it as a beater as the interior is immculate from what I saw in the online ad.
