Engine stalling -- shudder

Hello

I own 2005 Camry V6 with 38,000 kms.

Lately I was experincing sudden jerk while trying to accelerate. It will feel as if the engine has cut-off for a moment.

Yesterday, it happened again but on a larger scale.

I was turning after a STOP sign, so was at a very very low speed. Suddenly the whole car shuddered violently as if I have hit series of potholes. It lasted for about 10-15 seconds and the engine CHECK light flashed.

Before I could realize what was going on, everything was normal.

Any thoughts, comments will be highly appreciated.

Your car should still be under warranty. Take it to the dealer and let them deal with it. The check engine light that flashed probably set a code that they will be able to read. Intermittant problems can be the hardest to detect and could conceivably take some time to diagnose, so get it to the dealer soon so that your problem is recorded while the car is still under warranty.

In case your warranty has run out, some things to check:
1. Dirty throttle body
2. One or more dead or dying fuel injectors
3. Weak fuel pump (dont look for a fuel filter cause i dont think there is one, it is built into the fuel pump andyou cant change it).
4. You can buy a basic scanner from harborfreight.com for $30 or 40 and it comes with a list of what the codes mean - i got mine for $30 on sale and its already paid for itself twice. Its a basic one, so what it does is it flashes the code three times, pause, flashes it 3 times again, pause, does it once more then clears the code automatically.
