Power windows!!

My drivers side window went out on my 92 camry, so I popped open everything to see what was going on....apparently, the little steel wires that are attached to the pulley? thing had fallen off because the pulley thing had started to fall off, I played w/ it and the pulley came totally off. Now I was wondering, would this be part of the window regulator, so I could just buy the whole thing and replace it, or can I somehow restring the wire back on the pulley and slide it back onto its notch, or is it another part that I have to replace?
thanks

new window regulators are cheap on ebay and they WORK... i had to get one like a year and a half ago on my 94... let me tell you... CAMRYS are the WORST when it comes to window regulator motor life! SO many people have to replace theirs, thats why they are so common on ebay.

Yeah you have to replace the whole thing.

Its not hard to do. Just make sure you have someone hold the window up while you unbolt it.

Damn, I thought it was just my car. I had to replace regulators 3 times on 2 different windows in my old 93 camry wagon. Also had the whole motor unit go out once, but didn't feel like paying $300 for a new one so I just went boro style and bolted it in place

That got me thinking, could you get both the parts for the manual and power window regulator to fashion a door where you'd have both?

i HIGHLY doubt it... i believe it would put way too much stress on the motor.

I had problems with my passenger window, i had the motor sound running but the window wastn' doing nething like it was stuck. Now i opened up the door panel, took off the plastic and played with the metal strings and circle and found out that the metal strings had fallen apart. I bought a new motor off of ebay and was wondering if anyone has pictures or instructions on how to install this new passenger side window motor for my gen3 camry. Thankyou

heres your instructions written by... ME

Have your window about half way down...

1. Remove door trim...
- 1 cover, two screws in arm rest/grip
- 1 cover, 1 screw under arm rest/grip
- two screws on the bottom under the door
- two pop in fasteners on the end of the door where the latch is
- two covers and screws near hinge side of door
- trim around door handle, use a flathead screwdriver, pry down on the bottom under the hinge and on the top above the hinge pry upwards. then pull the handle and slade the trim towards the rear.
- unplug the harness from the electric window/door lock switch

2. get some of that plastic out of the way that covers the door...
3. remove the 2? screws on the window, that holds the window glass to the regulator.
4. remove the 3 bolts or nuts that hold the regulator to the door body (you may have to remove the crossbar in the door, i can't remember.)
5. unplug and remove the old regulator and install the new one.
6. install the 3 bolts or nuts back on the regulator
7. attach the glass
8. fix the plastic, stick it back to the gooey black shit.
9. plug in the door lock / window switch.
10. put the damn door back on.
11. try it out and enjoy the SPEED in which the window goes up and down.
12. do not overuse the window regulator or let kids play with it up and down so as you do not have to replace it in the future!

thank you thank you folks, its been a pleasure!
GOODNIGHT!
