Glamour shot of my engine bay [PICS]
Being a resident lurker on Honda-tech I got pretty sick of those SOHC punks with engine bays so clean it makes you want a D16 (almost).
Anyways, I went ahead an drove my car for about 2 mins to the local DIY car wash because I needed their pressure washer to do this. Then...
1) I popped the hood and covered up the alternator with aluminum foil, same with the coil plugs, air filter, and grounding block. The HID ballasts and ignitors are weather-proof so i didnt bother with those.
2) I brought a spray bottle of cold water and sprayed EVERYTHING in the engine bay until there was no spot that wasnt wet.
3) I took my bottle of Simple Green automotive degreaser and sprayed pretty much everything I could see. I left it for 10 mins to sit.
4) Put in the money for the pressure washer and pressure washes the hell out of everything until there were no traces of Simple Green left.
5) I let the car run for about 5 mins, then drove home where I popped the hood again and sprayed Armor All Multi-purpose protectant on all the rubber, vinyl, plastic, and body parts in the engine bay, and they rubbed it clean with a spare shop towel.
Thats it. Looks pretty damn good for a Canadian car that winter-driven and has 264,000 km on it.

Hey I see you made a mid-pipe, looks good...what about your PCV hose? I don't see it being connected...
Depends how bad the grease/oil deposit is, but i can tell you that these arent V8s so that type of hardcore grime isnt an issue for us. The Simple Green just breaks it up... the key is to let it sit so that it can work its magic, but another key is the pressure washing, it blows everything away.
The PCV recirculation has been taken out of the loop It goes to a catch can.

You haven't seen my engine bay in awhile then...there's 12 years of grease and grime on the sides and it's a bitch to take off. I have one of those Karcher washers at home, I guess I'll buy a bottle and try it out.
You have a pic of the catch can? Custom or store bought. Just wanna see what it looks like.
wow, that's pretty (#)%$# clean!!
i want to keep mine that clean but at the moment, don't know all the stuff one is suppose to cover.. ohh well.
great job
