Need help with upgrade

I have a 98 V6 Manual Camry(stock). I was wondering what should be the first mod that i should to increase performance ?
I'm a college student and don't wanna spend a fortune on it. My cuzin told me to run some extra ground wires from Throtle body.....and according to him that will make a difference.

What do u guys recommened ? (keeping in my i don't know much about cars)

Ps. See the pic.......taken recently while my trip to Ny...........(the car was fully loaded with our junk and had 4 ppl sitting in it)

well a cheap way to get some power is to buy a 3 inch cone filter and get some three inch pipe from your local exhaust shop figure out what kind of bends you will need in it first and have them bend it, if u have a friend that works at an exhaust shop u can get this done very very cheaply, spend some time on it and it will get u some decent gains and it will look good, if u try and do it fast it will look like crap.

Hell yeah man, Ive got a 95 stock automatic 4cyl, gotten mine up to about 110...and I know i can go faster but i've heard stories of blowing the piston straight through the manifold, I guess camrys don't have rev limiters...or so i've heard. So I wonder how high i could get mine...and to the guy who asked "where the hell did you go 130"...well on any major tollway/highway you can easily do it buddy. Especially late at night. So lets see these gauge pics...(maybe some 4cyls too)

DAMN THAT"S FAST!!!
if anyone got caught doing that in T.O their liscence would be suspended on the spot. my friend drives a saturn ion and he scored 207km/h on the highway.

BTW, don't most cars have rev limiters on them? (now at least) i wonder how fast 4 bangers can go. i would like to try...but have no where to try it at.

Yeah their top end isnt so bad, I so wish i had a V6... lol, but yeah all you gotta have is a radar detector, just make sure if it goes off even the slightest, you brake reaaaaaaaal fast cuz chances are your coming up on a cop pretty quick.

Just hope you dont run into a chopper....

Some beginner-friendly upgrades that I could think of off the top of my head and suggest are a better intake kit and some better form of an exhaust setup. As for the ground wires, sadly to say, they don't add 5 hp, BUT, they do make your electrical system a lot better and more efficient. I speak from experience. I own a gen. 2 Camry, and I replaced the stock ground wires with 4 gauge wires (basically the same as battery cables:p ). Overall, all the little lights and such seem to light up brighter and better. Now I haven't drug out any testers or anything like that to see if it "officially" improved anything. But from what I can tell, I've seen an improvement. Anyway, I hope this helps some.

Oh yeah...I managed to get my gen. 2 Camry up to around 110 mph late late one night (or should I say, early early in the morning, like at 1 something am.) on a really long backroad. I'll admit though that I got lucky to have not gotten a ticket! I too tried to take a picture of my speedometer while going that fast, but I used one of those cheap-o Wal-Mart disposable cameras and when I got the film developed the picture utterly sucked and you couldn't see anything cuz it was one giant blur, so I didn't bother posting it.

i don't have any pics....but i know that 4 bangers have a rev limiter of around 6500....i don't remember exactly what it is though

and i believe that the top speed of a 4 banger slushbox is around 115-120 (camry that is)
