Hi,

When should I change the break in oil in my 2002 Camry LE V6? Some people say to change it as recommended (8,000 km according to Toyota Canada). Others say after 3000 KM. Any suggestions?

Toyota dealership told me every 7,000km for my 94 but i think they are heartless monsters who dont give a damn about my car, so i change it every 5,000km.

But why do you think that they tell you to change oil at 7000km and not 5000km? In a business standpoint they make less money by doing that.

Change oil interval is different in 2000+ and newer Toyotas.

Exactly, their service department makes no money off of working vehicles, except maybe oil changes and routine maintenance.

If anything, 5000km gives me peace of mind. Never mind that their are some people that are religious about changing oil and do it every 3,000!

Your first oil change should come after 1800kms. This is to get the metal shavings out of the engine. I wouldn't wait past 3k to change it tho. After that, every 5k is or was the norm.

I know Toyota says every 8k. Your choice providing that you change it between 5-8k. For me, maybe 6 will do. N/A motors don't get as dirty as forced induction or turbocharged motors in which I change every 5k.
