Hi guys...I've got a favor to ask you Camry guys in Toronto. THe next time someone here has to change their disc brake pads or have to do work on their brakes, would it be alright if I came by and watched? I've got the Haynes book, but I'm not confident enough to work on my brakes all by myself with no one helping or watching what I might do wrong, and if I watch, I might be able to pick up some tips and tricks that the book doesn't mention!
In return, I'll provide some free labour and some beers to celebrate afterwards!
Just PM me or leave a message on this thread when you guys have brake work to be done, alright? THanks!
What do you use to push them back in? Last time me, Ekam and Rick did brake work, it was a bitch to get the pistons back. We used big ol' pliers and alot of bloody knuckles later managed to push them back :o

Didn't you guys have a Haynes manual handy that day? It even said to use a C-clamp to push them back in...I bought one for $5 at CanTire, it did wonders...impossible to push those pistons back in (I hope you also remove the brake fluid cover to relieve some pressure?).
Originally posted by Oldman brake pads, come, you can do that,
its 2 bolts, take caliper off, pop out pads, push piston back in, put in new pads, put caliper back on, tighten 2 bolts
i'm sure someone here would change your pads for a few beers
I don't doubt that I can do it myself, but I'm pretty anal about things and I get frustrated when I can't do something right the first time, so that's why I wanna watch and get some hands on experience from some one who's done it before. And I'm sure i'll come across small problems like Phi and Ekam and Rick did and i'll spend 3 hours cursing my car, ripping up my hands, and eventually turn into the hulk and smash my car!

No! Why do you think we called you? remember?
[Ekam] guy..I change my pads all the time. It's a piece of cake. I'd never pay somebody $80 to replace my pads![/Ekam]
[Ekam] uh...guys...the pliers are too small to push the calipers back. What do we do? Rick, you got bigger pliers in the house? Anybody got SilverStreak's digits?[/Ekam]

You guys are too funny...But the really funny thing is me and my buddies are like that ALL THE TIME!
We didn't have any anti-sieze stuff when we replaced my brake pads. Is it too late to add some ?
Its only "too late" when the bolts wont come loose. If you have the time to pull them apart and anti-seize its not a bad idea. Being that it was only done two months ago there should be no problem cracking them loose.
