DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS: Easy to Install??

My Camry didnt come with the daytime running lamp function. How hard is it to add this function? Is it just a module I plug in or does it require all new wiring harnesses and etc.....?

do your lights automatically shut off when you open the doors? I just leave mine on alll the time... (in PA its illegal to go through a work zone with headlights off... and daytime runners don't count, and being as i don't pay attention too well, doesnt hurt to cover all my bases)

Yeah they shut off automatically. Actually I do leave them on all the time, but on daytime running lamps only the high beams are on (at lower intensity)....that's why I wanted DRL's. But man that sucks about that work zone stuff.....plus I would hate to be the cop that sits there and deciphers what is DRL and what isn't

But I was reading my booklet and there's a sensor that goes on the dash so it seems like it would be complicated and expensive to activate that function.

I just figured it was a module that plugged in...guess I was wrong.

I think the DRL works differently on 00-01's in Canada...doesn't it?

Up there the low beams are on during the day....the ones I've seen here are the high beams but at lower intensity. I could be wrong though.

Just a little update:

As some of yall know, I was interested in buying these lights:

$149 a pair!!

Well I bought them......so now I have another reason to pursue the DRL upgrade. I would like to have the Halo on as my DRL.....but temporarily I may wire them to my parking lights.

But if anyone has any new info on how to install DRL's let me know.......
