trying to make my 5s-fe into a turbo need info on the how too's also want to know if anyone has done the automatic convert to the 5 speed yet if anybody has any info on these mods please email me @dirtysouthcamry@yahoo.com also check out the pics i mad 20s fit on my 93
TRD Northwest has a 5SFE turbo kit that gives you a safe 5psi for a factory spec engine. Anything higher, I would recommend you rebuilding your bottom end with (at least) forged pistons. Getting good connecting rods would be beneficial also.
Regarding the tranny swap, you will need a flywheel, clutch reservoir, & pedal. I would also get new 5-sp tranny mounts too.
I would highly recommend investing in a new clutch and throwout bearing, as well as a clutch alignment tool to make sure everything is lined up when you slide the tranny in.
Wow, I'm really liking that gen. 3! Nice and clean.

they are icon rims made by apc i went throught a lot of trouble finding the right offset all the name brand 20's wouldn't tuck so i had to go with these i like thought but the info on the trany swap is for a v6 mine is a 4 cylinder i know the parts are gonna be different but will it still be the same stuff just for the 4 cyl. how difficult was it im in automotive school and plan to do the turbo stuff and the tranny stuff my self thanks for all the help
Ratko's 5speed conversion is almost the same for 4cyl, just different tranny and clutch and i advise getting the manual ECU vs. modifying your existing ECU.
You could put a good turbo kit together cheap. Use used parts. ct-26 turbo and turbo manifold from an MR2, custom uppipe and downpipe. beef up the exhaust. Injectors from a supra, new fuel pump, or supra pump. you will need to move your oil filter, pipe the oil lines, tap the oil pan, not to mention all the intake and exhaust piping that needs to be bent specifically to fit the car. A good muffler shop would be able to do all of that though.
Just read up on turbo installation, turbo mechanics, different turbo setups, gather all the info you can and make a good list of what you need. Then you will realize it will cost about 3000-3500 just for parts to do the tranny and turbo.
sorry zion. OK the rims are 20x8.5 with a 38mm offset i think, not sure about the offset. i just bought the ct-26 turbo and exhaust manifold off ebay. and i just called a junk yard and went over the parts list from the thread article above and its only going to cost me about 575 for all the parts so thats alot cheaper than his v6 conversion.
Ok...Ummmm....you're going to run a turbo with 20's wrapped in rubber band tires....
You're talking about a turbo setup with a Plus 4 wheel/tire upgrade.
To run a turbo setup, not only must you have a good contact patch on the ground, but you need to have some actual rubber on the ground.
Unless you want to be spending $$$ on tire (and possibly wheel replacements), I suggest you increase the meat on those tires by downgrading to a smaller size wheel.
Now, if you DO have $$$$ to blow on extra tires, then quickly include a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position in a 205/50ZR16 size.....
