The reason I've brought attention to this subject is a A/C Stereo conflict. Last night I was driving around, and all of the sudden I heard a cracking noise. I stopped and jumped into the back and poped out my power block fuse for my amp, thinking that ground crossed positive, this was not the case. I then fugured out that something had gone really wrong concerning my cd player, a 600$ unit at that. I only paid $200 for it....but still, it was "Teh Suk" Anyways, I turned off my cd player, and reset it. From my passenger side speakers out came a very loud screech, (sounded like a bottle rocket went off in my car. Then the speakers cracked as if they were blown, in fact they were. Minutes prior to the incident I was showing off my system, had it up to about 58 vol level out of 62, no distortion what so ever, sounded just as good as when I put it all in. What had happened with my deck was water from the A/C Vents conviently located and not propperly insulated above my CD Player (Thank you TOYOTA! *middle finger*) Anyways, water from the vents dripped down onto my cd player top, I turned a corner and all the water had drained into the head unit causing a short, which caused my speakers to blow out, when it shorted Im guessing it created a large wattage amount and surged through the lines causing only those two speakers to blow as well as messing up the right side of the cd out-put. All this was caused by a drop of water. I suggest you guys remove your cd players, and tape up the rear vents. This is where the water drips down. This has also happened in 2 other 92-96 Toyotas. Has this happened to anyone else?

LOOK FOR WATER SPOTS ON YOU HEAD UNIT! My stock unit also had water spots and damage. Im using my stock 87 Celica am/fm tape player. I just rembered I can bypass my right channle by connecting my right lines to the left ones, I won't have balence.....But it beats the hell out of what I have now. Not to mention those 2 12 inch Audio Bahn 1000 watt subs can once again shake the earth!

Must fabricate stereo umbrella... becareful putting stuff above your stereo... it can cause the heat to stay in or near the stereo and not dissapate therefore making it prone to overheating. I'm not sure what can be done about this though. I supposed if you have a double din (like gen3 cams) you could put the Stereo into the bottom slot and the pocket above it, but from my experience you can't do it THAT easily. You'd have to drill some extra holes in that metal mounthing thing.

That sux azz, man. Maybe that's what happened to my Pioneer several months ago. All of a sudden, it started blowing the radio/acc fuse in the box to the left of the steering column. Blew about 4 fuses, I took it back to Circuit City under the extended and had it sent off. They "found nothing wrong," but it's worked fine ever since. I hope the vents aren't the problem. However, I've driven 400 mile using the AC all the way without problems...
The humidity here is un-godly. Yes its beautiful, and the weather is around 80 deg, but then bastard humity kicks into high gear and fucks it all up. I could fill buckets with sweat each day.

theres a problem though, you cant just "tape up the vents". the vent tips come off with the dash trim piece. thats why they have that foam in there on the vents. if you dont, then that sucks for you cause you should have a piece of foam around the A/C vent holes when you take the trim piece off.then the vent ends go on over that and it forms a semi tight seal. i would say it is tight enough to keep water out of my system...
